THE MINNESOTA D.N.R. HAS AN OPEN HOUSE MONDAY EVENING (6-8 PM) AT THE WARROAD FORESTRY OFFICE, ON PROPOSED OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE CAMPING FACILITIES AT BELTRAMI ISLAND STATE FOREST, AND AT HAYES LAKE STATE PARK. JOE UNGER, A PARKS AND TRAILS PLANNER FOR THE D.N.R., SAYS THE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE ANY O-H-V CAMPSITES WITH AMENITIES LIKE SHOWERS AND ELECTRICITY; SO THIS IS A TEST CASE.

ANOTHER OPEN HOUSE IS NEXT THURSDAY EVENING (December 13) AT THE D.N.R. CENTRAL OFFICE BUILDING IN ST PAUL.

GRANT APPLICATIONS FROM INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS ARE BEING ACCEPTED THROUGH MID-JANUARY BY THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL. ROSEAU IS ONE OF SEVEN COUNTIES IN THE NORTHWEST REGION, WHERE ARTISTS ARE ELIGIBLE. THOSE GRANTS ARE WORTH FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS.

HE SAYS GIRLS HOCKEY HAS GREATLY IMPROVED OVER THE PAST TWO DECADES. BERGSTROM HAS RE-JOINED THE RAMS GIRLS COACHING STAFF AS J-V COACH.

THE MINNESOTA D.N.R. HAS NAMED THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED IT’S WATERSHED DISTRICT OF THE YEAR, FOR IT’S WORK IN WATERSHED PLANNING, FLOOD DAMAGE REDUCTION AND WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (AMONG OTHER THINGS). THERE ARE FORTY-SIX WATERSHED DISTRICTS IN MINNESOTA.

FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH OF BADGER HAS IT’S ANNUAL BARBEQUE RIB SUPPER NEW YEAR’S EVE AT THE BADGER COMMUNITY CENTER.

SHOPKO WILL CLOSE THIRTY-NINE STORES IN FOURTEEN STATES EARLY NEXT YEAR. ONE OF THOSE SHOPKO STORES IS IN MAHNOMEN, AND ANOTHER IN PAYNESVILLE, MINNESOTA.
