THE SEVENTEEN MEMBER COMMITTEE IS CHARGED WITH PROMOTING AND COORDINATING IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TWENTY-FIVE YEAR PARKS AND TRAILS LEGACY PLAN. TAI JI QUAN CLASSES START THURSDAY THIS WEEK AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER. NANCY SWANSON, FROM LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER, SAYS IT’S SOMEWHAT LIKE MATTER OF BALANCE. TAI JI QUAN CLASSES ARE FREE, AND AIMED AT AN OLDER DEMOGRAPHIC.

AN ANNUAL BOOK FAIR AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL STARTS THURSDAY, DURING PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES. PROCEEDS GO TO THE READING IS FUNDAMENTAL BOOK GIVEAWAY PROGRAM.

ELECTION DAY IS TOMORROW, AND LONGTIME 7TH DISTRICT CONGRESSMAN COLLIN PETERSON HAS WHAT APPEARS TO BE A CLOSELY CONTESTED RACE WITH REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER DAVE HUGHES (OF KARLSTAD). HUGHES SAYS CAMPAIGNING IN THE GEOGRAPHICALLY LARGE 7TH DISTRICT IS DIFFICULT. PETERSON HAS BEEN RANKED THE MOST BIPARTISAN MEMBER OF CONGRESS, BY AT LEAST ONE GROUP.

A ROSEAU VETERANS DAY PROGRAM IS NEXT MONDAY (November 12th) AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL. IT’S BEING PLANNED BY SENIORS DALTON HANSON AND EMMA WALING, WHO WERE ROSEAU’S BOYS AND GIRLS STATE REPRESENTATIVES LAST SUMMER.

TWIN CITIES OFFICIALS, THIS FALL, HAVE BEEN REACTING TO HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS IN ST PAUL AND MINNEAPOLIS. FATIMA MOORE, WITH THE MINNESOTA COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS, SAYS IT’S AN EPIDEMIC THAT GOES BEYOND CITY AND STATE BOUNDARIES. IT’S ESTIMATED THERE ARE A HALF MILLION HOMELESS PEOPLE IN THE U.S. ON ANY GIVEN NIGHT.
