THERE WILL BE CONTESTED ELECTIONS THIS FALL IN THREE ROSEAU COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS, AND A PRIMARY ELECTION IN DISTRICT FIVE;
WHERE CURRENT COMMISSIONER MARK FOLDESI DID NOT FILE FOR RE-ELECTION. JERRY PETERS, LARRY EMERY AND DARYL WICKLUND HAVE FILED FOR THAT SEAT, AND WILL BE ON AN AUGUST PRIMARY BALLOT.

IN DISTRICT ONE, CURRENT COMMISSIONER GLENDA PHILLIPE FILED TWO WEEKS AGO, BUT HAS WITHDRAWN HER NAME; SO FORMER COUNTY COORDINATOR TRISH HARREN WILL RUN AGAINST JOHN HORNER.

IN DISTRICT THREE, INCUMBENT COMMISSIONER ROGER FALK FACES OPPOSITION FROM BRENT WALSH.


SHERIFF STEVE GUST, TREASURER DIANE GREGERSON, RECORDER PAM GRAND AND AUDITOR MARTIE MONSRUD WILL RUN UNOPPOSED FOR THEIR POSITIONS; WHILE CURRENT COUNTY ATTORNEY KAREN FOSS IS BEING CHALLENGED BY KRISTI KJOS.

HANDS-ON A-T-V YOUTH SAFETY TRAINING IS JUNE 27TH (4 PM) AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. THAT’S FOR ALL YOUTH AT LEAST ELEVEN YEARS OLD, AND PARENTS MUST BE PRESENT TO SIGN A WAIVER. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED BY JUNE 26TH, AND YOUTH MUST COMPLETE THE MINNESOTA D.N.R. ONLINE TRAINING PRIOR TO THE CLASS.


THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, THIS WEEK, HEARD THAT THEIR PLANNING COMMISSION’S TOUR OF THE CITY IN LATE MAY SHOWED “QUITE A FEW PROBLEM PROPERTIES” HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM A MASTER LIST. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON SAID OTHER PROPERTIES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THAT LIST.

THE CARSON AND BARNES CIRCUS, WHICH HAD REPORTEDLY BEEN SCHEDULED TO STOP IN ROSEAU A WEEK FROM SATURDAY, WILL NOT BE COMING.
THE ROSEAU CIVIC AND COMMERCE ASSOCIATION HAD SPONSORED THE CIRCUS IN RECENT YEARS, BUT CIRCUS OFFICIALS CANCELLED EARLIER THIS YEAR DUE TO SCHEDULING DIFFICULTIES. INCORRECT REPORTS OF THE CIRCUS COMING TO TOWN CAUSED SOME CONFUSION FOR THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR BOARD.

AN OUTDOOR AND FARM SAFETY CAMP, FROM ROSEAU COUNTY 4H, IS TODAY AT ROSEAU’S PIONEER FARM.

PUBLIC NALOXONE TRAINING IS TODAY (3:30-5 PM) AT RIVERVIEW RECOVERY CENTER IN ROSEAU. AMONG OTHER THINGS, PRESENTER RANDY ANDERSON WILL TALK ABOUT HOW TO RECOGNIZE SIGNS OF AN OPIOID OVERDOSE; AND HOW TO ADMINISTER ‘NARCAN’ TO A PERSON WHO HAS OD’D.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD, YESTERDAY, MADE SEVERAL PERSONNEL DECISIONS; INCLUDING HIRING ASHLEY FILIPULA AS A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AND ORLAN DVERGSTEN AS A BUS DRIVER.
THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATIONS OF SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER MIKE NORDINE AND PARAPROFESSIONALS RACHEL WILLIAMS AND JOAN DAHL. AND THE BOARD APPROVED FIVE SECTIONS OF KINDERGARTEN FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR, WITH AT LEAST 93 KINDERGARTNERS EXPECTED.
