BARB ERICKSON OF ROSEAU WAS NAMED VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AT THE SUNSHINE FEST, LAST WEEKEND IN GRAND FORKS.

THE SUNSHINE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION IS RAISING MONEY FOR A RONALD McDONALD-TYPE HOUSE, CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION NEAR ALTRU HOSPITAL IN GRAND FORKS. ERICKSON, AND A ROSEAU GROUP, ARE ABOUT THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS AWAY FROM THEIR FUNDRAISING GOAL.



ROSEAU’S VICTORIA JOHNSON WAS THE SUBSECTION 32A TRIPLE-A AWARD WINNER; THAT’S A STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE AWARD FOR ACADEMICS, ATHLETICS AND FINE ARTS.

THE OVERALL SECTION 8A WINNERS, WHO’LL BE RECOGNIZED DURING THE BOYS STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT, ARE WYATT HAMRE OF STEPHEN-ARGYLE AND TYRA WILSON OF WIN-E-MAC.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MAYO GREGERSON OF BADGER ARE TOMORROW MORNING AT ELEVEN AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. VISITATION IS THIS EVENING (5-7 PM) WITH A SEVEN O’CLOCK PRAYER SERVICE AT THE FUNERAL HOME.

A NIGHT TO SHINE IS TOMORROW EVENING AT THE WARROAD COMMUNITY CHURCH. IT’S A PROM NIGHT EXPERIENCE FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.

JENNA OLSON, FROM THE WARROAD COMMUNITY CHURCH, WHICH IS ONE OF FIVE HUNDRED AROUND THE WORLD WHICH WILL HOST A SIMILAR EVENT.

ROSEAU FIRE CHIEF CRAIG McMILLIN TOLD THE CITY COUNCIL THIS WEEK THAT FIRE CALLS IN 2017 WERE DOWN FROM PREVIOUS YEARS.

McMILLIN SAYS HIS DEPARTMENT AVERAGED ABOUT ONE CALL PER WEEK LAST YEAR; BUT THEY’VE BEEN BUSIER EARLY IN 2018.

McMILLIN ALSO SAID THE ROSEAU FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED A STATE GRANT TO BUY A WASHING MACHINE DESIGNED TO CLEAN CARCINOGENS FROM FIREFIGHTER’S GEAR.
