THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD MEETS THIS MORNING, IN IT’S ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING. THE COMMISSIONERS WILL ELECT A BOARD CHAIR, AND SET COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE COMING YEAR.

LAST WEEK, THE COUNTY BOARD APPROVED AN AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES PROGRAM RESOLUTION. THE ROSEAU COUNTY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT ADMINISTERS THAT PROGRAM.



THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE HAS DRAFTED A RULE INTENDED TO CUT DOWN ON NITROGEN RUNOFF FROM FARMERS’ FIELDS.
NITROGEN FERTILIZER IS THE MAIN SOURCE OF NITRATE POLLUTION IN GROUNDWATER IN MINNESOTA.
STEVE SUPPAN, WITH THE MINNEAPOLIS-BASED INSTITUTE FOR AGRICULTURE AND TRADE POLICY, SAYS THE FERTILIZER INDUSTRY IS WORKING ON SOLUTIONS; WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT WORK FOR THE STATE’S FARMERS.

CANADIAN RESEARCHERS SAY THEY’RE GETTING RESULTS FROM A FERTILIZER THAT USES NANO-TECHNOLOGY.



WORK CONTINUES ON THE GREAT NORTHERN TRANSMISSION LINE IN ROSEAU COUNTY. THAT MINNESOTA POWER PROJECT WILL BRING MANITOBA HYDRO POWER TO THE IRON RANGE WHEN IT’S COMPLETE IN THE YEAR 2020.

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR ROBERT MOYER OF WARROAD ARE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO AT ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH IN WARROAD. VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.
