NEW FLOODPLAIN MAPS IN ROSEAU COUNTY TAKE EFFECT TOMORROW.

THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY STARTED THE RE-MAPPING THE PROCESS ABOUT ELEVEN YEARS AGO, BUT THE MAPS DO NOT REFLECT THE COMPLETED EAST DIVERSION FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT IN ROSEAU.
MARK PETERSON, FROM FEMA’S CHICAGO OFFICE, SAYS THE AGENCY HAS BEEN DOING RE-MAPPING WORK ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.

IN THE CITY OF ROSEAU, NEARLY TWO HUNDRED PROPERTIES ARE ADDED TO THE HUNDRED YEAR FLOODPLAIN IN THE NEW FEMA MAPS; THAT WILL BE CORRECTED IN A LETTER OF MAP REVISION EXPECTED IN JULY.

BUT THE RED RIVER FARM NETWORK REPORTS THAT NORTH DAKOTA CONGRESSMAN KEVIN CRAMER THINK FARMERS WANT TO GROW FOOD RATHER THAN BE PAID TO TAKE LAND OUT OF PRODUCTION.
