ROSEAU CITY OFFICIALS HAD ANOTHER TELEPHONE CONFERENCE WITH FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS LAST WEEK ON A LETTER OF MAP REVISION FOR RECENTLY COMPLETED FLOODPLAIN MAPS.

THE LETTER OF MAP REVISION (OR, ‘LOMR’) WOULD TAKE ALMOST ALL OF THE CITY OUT OF THE HUNDRED YEAR FLOODPLAIN, BECAUSE OF THE COMPLETED EAST DIVERSION FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT; THE NEW MAPS DON’T REFLECT THE DIVERSION, SO MOST OF THE CITY IS IN THE FLOODPLAIN IN THOSE MAPS.

THE MINNESOTA D.N.R. HAD SAID ‘FEMA’ WOULD HAVE THE ‘LOMR’ READY BY APRIL 20TH; THE AGENCY IS NOW SAYING IT’LL BE DONE BY LATE JULY.

THAT MEANS MORE MORTGAGE HOLDERS IN THE CITY OF ROSEAU WILL HAVE TO HAVE FLOOD INSURANCE.
