THE FIRST DAY OF BOYS CLASS “A” STATE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT WAS A DAY OF UPSETS, STARTING WITH THE FIRST GAME BETWEEN SECOND SEED DELANO AND MONTICELLO/ANNANDALE/MAPLE LAKE; THE MOOSE BEAT THE TIGERS 3-2.

UNSEEDED NORTHFIELD SKATED AWAY FROM THIRD SEED MAHTOMEDI 3-1.

TOP SEED AND DEFENDING CHAMP HERMANTOWN NEEDED OVERTIME TO SNEAK PAST LUVERNE 3-2.

SECTION 8 CHAMPS EAST GRAND FORKS CLAIMED AN EARLY LEAD, BUT AFTER ALLOWING THREE GOALS, COULD NEVER REGAIN THE LEAD AS ST. CLOUD CATHEDRAL DOUBLED-UP THE GREEN WAVE 6-3.
